About Kim
Kim O’Neill has a Masters degree, is a qualified Social Worker and a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. Kim specialises in mindfulness-based counselling and approaches to managing anxiety, stress and trauma in life and work. Kim is passionate about working with her clients to enable self-led change and find new solutions for old problems. She is also a dog lover and has two French Bulldogs!
Kim started work 30 years ago as a counsellor in a variety of clinical settings. For the past 20 years she has worked in senior leadership and executive roles in mental and social health organisations. Working with a diverse range of clients has taught Kim that what we all want is more joy and meaning in our lives.
Kim firmly believes that building a practice of mindfulness will support you to manage whatever obstacles come your way.
In a complex and stressful world, we must connect with ourselves, accept where we find ourselves, and learn new ways to deal with life’s challenges and worries. We often feel out of control, discontent, or that the problems in our lives are too big to cope with. We feel lost and overwhelmed and it negatively impacts how we function and show up in our day-to-day lives and work. These issues can show up as feeling anxious and stressed, constantly worrying about our relationships, money and work.
Kim works with individuals to create a safe space where you can slow down and process fear, anxiety, and trauma by understanding how your mind works, and the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and how they impact the quality of your life.
Kim teaches people to recognise and identify emotional triggers and symptoms, the habit of thoughts and emotions in our lives and ways to create new habits and behaviours that improve our lives. Kim supports people to de-identify with their experiences with kindness and compassion while pragmatically finding ways to deal with emotions like anxiety in the moment.

About Samantha
Samantha Fredericks is a registered psychologist with an MBA and diverse experience in clinical and business environments.
Samantha is kind and compassionate, and tailors strategies for her clients so you feel heard, supported and empowered to create meaningful change, enhance your relationships and your life, and achieve your goals.
Samantha works one-on-one with adults and adolescents with anxiety and panic disorders, depression, overwhelm, attention deficits, trauma, PTSD and complex presentations. She believes that we experience psychological distress when there’s a disconnect between where we find ourselves in our lives and relationships right now, what has happened to us in the past, and what we worry may happen in the future.
Samantha’s integrated, person-centred approach draws from evidence-based psychotherapies including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and mindfulness-based tools to help clients to accept where we find ourselves, develop a deeper insight into what underlies our symptoms and how to improve our level of day-to-day functioning. Samantha aims to support each client to build insight, self-awareness and resilience to navigate life with meaning and purpose.
Samantha is also interested in animal-assisted therapies to reduce loneliness and increase feelings of connection and wellbeing. Her Cairn Terrier has a burning ambition to become a Therapy Dog and join her working at Blaze Psychology and Wellbeing.
Our Philosophy
At Blaze Psychology and Wellbeing, we work on the assumption that all people are doing the best they can with where they find themselves, and that we all want to improve and find more happiness, joy and meaning in our lives.
In the complex and stressful world in which we live, we feel out of control, discontented, or that the problems in our lives are too big for us to solve, and this negatively impacts how we function and show up in our day-to-day lives and work.
By building a stronger relationship with ourselves, gaining knowledge and insights into how our thoughts and feelings influence our behaviours and symptoms, we can learn how to create new habits and behaviours, and make the best choices and actions to navigate our lives with meaning and purpose.

The Power of Mindfulness
By Kim O'Neill
Mindfulness is all about the relationships we have with ourselves and the world around us. It involves living in the present moment and being fully aware and engaged in every aspect of our lives.
Mindfulness is not about changing how we feel, but rather about how we relate to our feelings, thoughts, and physical sensations.
Unmasking Anxiety
By Samantha Fredericks
Anxiety is a common human experience that many of us face at some point in our lives. It is a normal response to stress and can manifest as feelings of unease, worry, or fear. However, when anxiety becomes excessive or persistent, it can interfere with our daily lives and may even develop into an anxiety disorder.
Surviving Workplace Bullying
By Kim O'Neill
The effects of workplace bullying can be far-reaching, leading to increased stress levels, low self-esteem, and even serious mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression. Additionally, it can impair job performance and result in decreased productivity. It is essential to recognize the signs of workplace bullying, as it can manifest in both overt and subtle ways.
